Empowering Homeless Families Through MassVOTE
Thanks to a generous grant from MassVOTE, FamilyAid Boston and Homes for Families are working together to involve homeless and formerly homeless families in the democratic process in Massachusetts.
The goal of the project is to involve the agencies' clients in the political process, particularly with regard to issues that affect their communities. Members of the Client and Community Advisory Boards of both agencies will be trained to register voters and educate their friends and neighbors about the democratic process and current political issues. These volunteers will help to run voter registration tables, door-to-door canvassing events, and information sessions in their own communities.
It is our hope that the project will increase voter registration and civic engagement and have a positive impact on our clients' neighborhoods by promoting legislation that helps under-served communities.
